Removal of the lights at courts - Petition
We oppose the new lights at the courts because:

-
Lack of due process.
-
Altering the proposal and the reason hidden from the local community.
-
No proper consultation process.
-
No normal notification of decision making meetings.
-
Council’s Report one sided.
-
No Traffic Report.
-
Statement of Heritage flawed.
-
No recognition of and contrary to Recommended Management of the Bi- Centennial Coastal Cliff Walk.(1)
-
Prior to work commencing SCPAG wrote repeatedly to Woollahra Council asking for a halt.
-
Questionable conflict of interest.
-
Light poles and courts incompatible with natural environment.
-
Massive rocks, boulders and green vegetation removed from the area.
-
Much bigger cemented over area than size of two courts.
-
Park changed from a shared environment.
-
Loss of important passive recreation area and a popular dog off leash area.
-
Light poles incompatible with park’s Plan of Management 5.2: "Preservation of the park’s skyline is of great importance. Council should prohibit those developments which threaten to obstruct the natural skyline of Christison Park."(2)
-
Light poles obstruct the natural skyline and views and vistas.
